The successful candidate will work extensively with University partners to understand business needs and translate them into new websites and enhancements.
An experienced candidate should be able to point to a good number of websites built in a content management system (preferably Drupal) that they’ve developed, or made critical contributions to. The candidate should be a highly skilled developer/programmer, with a strong understanding of design principles, information architecture, usability best practices, and 508 compliance. The candidate should enjoy working in a collaborative fast-paced environment that requires managing multiple concurrent projects, while maintaining extreme attention to detail on each project. A zeal for coding, development and design, and quality assurance is required. Additionally, the candidate is comfortable and happy providing one-on-one support to people, and can thrive in a team environment, yet is self-guided. The successful candidate is a PHP/MySQL programmer with experience in Web CMS development who wants to join a team dedicated to creating effective and usable web sites.

– Analyze requirements, define tasks, and scope effort.
– Ensure that requirements and development are aligned with business logic and customer needs.
– Design, build, troubleshoot, and maintain websites built in the University’s content management systems.
-Develop web applications, including markup and code, for the web and mobile web.
-Partner with the group’s web designers for website and interface design.
-Participate in developing best practices to maintain and improve platforms/applications.
– Document code, and create technical specifications.
-Refactor code to improve its maintenance and extensibility and reduce its complexity.
-Understand how different University systems interact with the University’s content management systems.
-Develop solutions for adapting content and presentation to mobile devices and browsers.
– Quality assurance testing upgrades, patches and new releases.
-Provide support to for websites built in the University’s content management systems (primarily Drupal, and also WordPress and Roxen).
– Research new technology, tools, and approaches.
-Follow organizational project management methodologies and technologies.
-Provide occasional one-on-one or group application training.
-Actively exchange knowledge and sharing expertise with colleagues.
-Continually learn new technologies and techniques that support evolving needs.
-Maintaining positive working relationships with and providing service to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
-Expert knowledge of PHP and object oriented design principles.
-Very strong experience with Drupal, JQuery, and HTML5.
-Ability to create code that is clean and adheres to web standards.
-Ability to translate images, layouts and design blueprints into CSS/HTML themes
-Familiarity with continuous integration; ability to work from and maintain existing code bases.
-Experience with web services technologies; such as REST, SOAP, WSDL, Ajax and JSON.
-Experience using RDBMS; such as MySQL, Oracle, etc.
-Experience with a Version Control System; such as Git.
-Ability to work across development languages and platforms.
– Excellent communication skills and a strong mix of project management, programming and business analysis skills.
– Demonstrated strength in identifying system solutions for evolving business requirements.
– Ability to thinking strategically about integrating solutions into the content management systems.
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
-Willingness to keep abreast of emerging technologies and applications, and the opportunities to integrate them into projects
-A Bachelor’s Degree is Required
