JOB SUMMARY: 

 

This position would be responsible for functions related to graduate students at BCU from recruiting and initial inquiries of prospective students to the point of acceptance and admission for selected students.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

•All recruiting, advertisement and promotion of graduate programs at BCU, including but not limited to representation at undergraduate research conferences, local and national presentations regarding opportunities in the graduate program, and maintenance of the ground level web site for the graduate school (including program description, admissions links, and basic faculty background and research bios).
•All admissions functions for graduate programs at BCU, including but not limited to receiving and processing admissions materials for graduate programs, handling all admissions procedures, communicating with prospective students regarding missing admissions materials and application progress, forwarding completed applications to the proper department for decisions, dissemination of acceptance/rejection letters and filing all application materials.
•Reports directly to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
•Bachelor’s degree and three to five years experience with admissions and recruitment required.

 •Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability and the ability to meet deadlines.
•Must have the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student population.
•Must be a self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented, and culturally diverse environment.
•Must be perceptive and patient, with strong people skills and a willingness to assist others.
•Ability to demonstrate ownership, accountability and teamwork.
•Ability to focus on results and to commit on excellence.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality.
ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
 •May be susceptible to eyestrain, back discomfort, and hand/wrist problems due to long periods working on a computer.
•Occasional stress may occur from volume and deadlines.
•Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity.
•Must be mobile throughout the campus.
•Maybe some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
