Description :

Western Kentucky University’s Division of Student Affairs, Office of the Vice President for
Student Affairs invites applicants for Director, Counseling and Testing Center (CTC). The
University seeks an individual skilled as both an administrator and practitioner to provide
leadership for a Center providing comprehensive services, individual and group counseling, and
educational programming to Western Kentucky University students and crisis intervention and
consultation to the University community. Additionally, the Center is a primary training site for
the University’s graduate program in clinical psychology and provides a broad range of testing
services to the University and the surrounding community.
The Director is also responsible for sustaining critical interactions and working collaboratively
with other units on campus including, but not limited to, the Department of Housing and
Residence Life, the Office of Judicial Affairs, the University Police Department, Health Services,
the Office of Student Disability Services, the Regional Campuses, the Office of Student
Activities, Leadership and Volunteerism, and the Division of Academic Affairs.
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs. This is a twelve-month,
full-time position and the successful candidate will serve as senior staff member in the Division
of Student Affairs. Evening and weekend work is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as allinclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and
institutional needs.
 Provides day-to-day leadership to the CTC
 Develops and executes short and long term vision, strategic goals for the CTC
 Oversees clinical services provided by counseling center staff
 Provides supervision to counseling center staff and practicum students
 Provides culturally sensitive psychological services to students
 Oversees budget, strategic plan, and administration of tests and testing services provided
by the Testing Coordinator
 Serves as liaison for counseling center with Student Affairs and the University
community Coordinates training/prevention education within the campus community
Required Minimum Qualifications
 Demonstrated ability to assume leadership in an administrative position within a
university counseling and testing center, knowledge of fiscal management, strategic
planning, personnel issues, and experience in working in conjunction with Student
Affairs to develop strategies for ensuring the academic success of a college student
population by providing psychological expertise
 Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and licensed (or license
eligible) in the State of Kentucky
 Minimum five years of extensive clinical experience and related institutional experience
in a university counseling center setting
 Ability to work independently on tasks
 Competency with differential diagnosis and use of DSM
 Clinical experience addressing suicide risk assessment and intervention, crisis response
and intervention, case management, care coordination, and working with high risk/high
acuity clients
 Commitment to developing an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship program
 Demonstrated strong clinical skills and interdisciplinary collaboration
 Demonstrated ability to provide quality and culturally-sensitive clinical services
 Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
 Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
 Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and technological communication skills
 Outstanding educational outreach and presentation skills
