University Housing at ASU is searching for qualified applicants for the position of Community Coordinator for
2013-2014. University Housing currently houses 13,000+ students across all four ASU campuses and is
growing steadily. The Community Coordinator position is the flagship position on our team. We are seeking
dynamic individuals who have a passion for student success, who have the desire to advance university
strategic priorities and who are committed to partnering with Academic Colleges to implement a dynamic
Residential College program.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Community Coordinator for ASU’s University Housing provides leadership and management to a residential
college community and the student and professional staff working in the community. This position is
responsible for providing a high level of customer service and creating a community that fosters academic
excellence and personal growth for its residents. The Community Coordinator partners with a diverse group of
staff, students, and faculty and collaborates with various departments and programs, both internally with ASU
and externally to develop and implement appropriate programming and opportunities.
Specific duties and responsibilities can be classified into the following broader categories, which are consistent
across all campuses that have Community Coordinator positions:
 Supervision/Leadership/Role-Modeling
 Community Development
 Student Conduct Administration
 Crisis Management/On-Call Coverage
 Facilities Management
 Academic Enhancement
 Administration and Operations
Additional General responsibilities will include the following and may vary slightly depending upon campus
placement.
The Community Coordinator ExperienceThe Community Coordinator position is appropriate for a staff member who wants a greater leadership challenge in a career in residential life. Community Coordinators do not simply manage residential
communities; they are responsible for activating a residential college or upper-division model for that
community. The position is ideal for candidates who have recently completed a master’s program and come
from both large and small school backgrounds. Successful Community Coordinator candidates typically have a
passion for connecting with and ensuring a positive experience for every student in their respective
communities. During a typical work week, Community Coordinators will have flexible hours with some
necessarily occurring during regular business hours for the purpose of attending staff meetings and managing
day-to-day functions of a residential community.
A critical emphasis of this position is on being a highly visible and strong presence in your residential
college or upper-division community. University Housing values our staff members spending the bulk of their
work week with students, actively building relationships and assisting them in their transition to higher
education.

Minimum Qualifications
 Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the area of assigning and six (6) months related supervisory
experience

Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with:
 One year of post-Master’s Degree experience in a Student Affairs or Residential Life office
 Experience working in an on-call duty rotation
 Experience living within a residential hall environment
 Crisis Management Experience
 Student Conduct Administration
 Experience working with diverse populations
 Experience developing partnerships with faculty and academic professionals
 Conflict Mediation Experience
 Student Code of Conduct/Policy Enforcement Experience
 Experience working in a themed community: First-Year Experience, Living-Learning Community,

Residential College, Upper-Division Student Housing, Family-Housing, etc.
 Experience in training, selection, and recruiting student paraprofessionals
 Experience advising student organizations

Compensation/Benefits
 Posted Salary $25,213 – $32,000 100% FTE
 Furnished on campus apartment

Appointment Period These positions are 12 month appointment periods subject to annual renewal
 July 1st, 2013 – June 30th, 2014
