Job Summary Develop and implement programs, policies, and financial objectives in relation to Student Affairs and Academic Affairs functions including (but not limited to) orientation, transition, retention, leadership development, and parent and family programs. Ensures continuity and quality customer service between University departments and community.
Responsibilities The Associate Director of Orientation & Leadership Development will assist in overseeing all operations of the Office of Orientation and Leadership Development, including supervision of an office comprised of over 100 undergraduate student staff, 4 graduate student staff, and 5 professional staff; development and management of budgets; implementation of all first-year and transfer orientation programs; coordination of Welcome Week, Campus Life Mentors, Picture Your First Year, Transfer student programs, and other retention initiatives; direction of leadership development programs including an academic minor in Leadership Studies; support of the National Student Exchange program; programming for parents and families and support for the Parent Association; and creating and conducting strategic plans and assessment of all areas.

1. Coordinate specific large-scale, collaborative programs such as the New Student Welcome with President Pershing, Welcome Week, Orientation advising, and other new initiatives

2. Support the Leadership Studies academic minor

3. Participate in preparing and documenting department budgets

4. Aid in setting, tracking and meeting department goals through a strategic plan

5. Ensure continuity and quality customer service from office staff

6. Manage office communications plan, including marketing and social media presence

7. Supervise professional and student staff and assist in the coordination of intentional professional development opportunities for the office

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Student Personnel or related field, with a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in Higher Education;
Or
Bachelor’s degree in Student Personnel or related field, with a minimum of 6 years of administrative experience in Higher Education.
Preferences Experience working with faculty, administrative, and student groups; strong demonstrated collaboration skills; effective written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated commitment and experience working with diverse populations; prior program development and management experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who can additionally demonstrate prior budgetary and supervisory experience, experience with assessment and strategic planning, and knowledge of student development theory and practice.
