Job Duties:

  • Manages the daily operations and in the Office Disability Services andStudent Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Main services include, but are not limited to: administering the student code of conduct, including academic dishonesty, working with University staff and faculty to resolve student grievances, coordinating efforts and intervening with students in mental health crises, assisting with student referrals and ensuring campus compliance of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act/Americans with Disabilities Act federal requirements.
  • Adjudicates student misconduct (academic and non-academic) and student grievance processes to insure consistency and communication.
  • Coordinates conduct student inquiries.
  • Coordinates meetings and records for the Student of Concern Intervention Team regarding student behavior that is concerning, disruptive or threatening.
  • Assesses student emergencies and informs the Dean of Students of the situation.
  • Serves as liaison with University Police Department and local law enforcement.
  • Coordinates conduct with student organizations, including Greek Life.
  • Serves as a resource person to students and families.
  • Oversees the Campus Assault Response Effort in the event of a sexual assault.
  • Manages Title IX as related to Student Affairs: Sexual Harassment/Misconduct student investigations.
  • Partners with University Police Department on Clery Act reporting.
  • Oversees the services provided to students and collaborates with members of the campus community to maintain confidential student records (e.g., documentation of disability).
  • Advocates for students with faculty or administrators, including consulting with faculty, institutional administrators and other campus departments regarding the instructional needs of students (e.g., health services, residential life, admissions, counseling services).
  • Works with campus or community personnel and agencies regarding students with disabilities or disability issues.
  • Provides training and expertise regarding disability issues to members of the campus community.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

 

 

Supervision:

§  Received – General supervision from the assigned supervisor.

§  Given – Supervise assigned full time part time employees.

 

 

Required Skills:

§  Education – Master’s degree from an accredited university in a related field.

§  Experience – Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible higher education or student services work experience including supervisory experience.

§  Equipment – Use of standard office equipment with proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.

 

 

Working Conditions:

Usual office environment.

 

 

Other:

Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Some evening and/or weekend work and travel may be required. Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to serving people with disabilities in post-secondary education.

 

 

 Minimum Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
