Job Duties:

  • Responsible for providing leadership, direction and financial oversight of the assigned areas under the Dean of Students, such as: Child Development Center, Residence Life, Student Health Services, Student Union and the Wellness and Recreational Sports Complex.
  • Coordinates with campus partners to develop and execute strategic initiatives, master planning, facilities management and fiscal planning that is committed to the educational and revenue generating goals of the assigned areas.
  • Translates goals and policies into operational plans and procedures, participates in strategic planning and setting priorities.
  • Assists in the creation and proposal of short and long-term plans, including operational, organizational and financial.
  • Establishes operational policies and procedures and makes any necessary modifications based on the analysis of operations, demographics and other research information.
  • Manages assessment for long range planning and goal setting.
  • Performs financial analysis and produces reports to support decision-making.
  • Participates in the selection of university contract providers for items such as food service, vending and beverages.
  • Coordinates with Facilities Management on the planning, design and construction of facilities that align with the institutional mission and strategic direction.
  • Participates in advisory boards for each unit.
  • Oversees and provides guidance on accreditation process, legal issues, safety protocol, fiscal and other compliance requirements.
  • Under the direction of the Dean, coordinates budget planning for student service fee requests and the review process.
  • Responsible for securing grant funding sources as needed.
  • Participates in and/or leads special projects as assigned by the Dean of Students. 
  • Serves as representative for the Office of the Dean of Students at meetings, committees and task force groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Supervision:

§  Received – General supervision from the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students.

§  Given – Supervises assigned staff.

 

 

Required Skills:

§  Education – Master’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Counseling or a related field from an accredited University.

§  Experience – Minimum of five (5) years experience in managing student life auxiliary services such as child care, health services, residence life, student union and wellness centers or related duties

§  Equipment – Use of standard office machines including personal computer, fax, and MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 

 

Working Conditions:

Indoor office environment; must work some evenings and/or weekends; occasional travel is required

 

 

Other:

Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary; ability to interact with a diverse population is required.

 

 

 Minimum Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
