General NotesThis is an exciting new opportunity in the Longhorn Foundation, designed to create and sustain a giving program that builds upon the highly successful annual fund program currently in place. The incumbent will need to establish clearly defined metrics for leadership gifts staff, including number of face to face contacts, solicitations, and closed gifts required each year, and track progress.

Additional Information

PurposeTo provide oversight and management of the major and leadership gift team within the Longhorn Foundation and be responsible for strategy development, implementation, and accountability of the major and leadership gift fund-raising efforts.

Essential FunctionsManage staff of major gift officers, including related staff assigned to the management of stadium suites. Prepare operating plans for the program. Manage major gift portfolio, develop strategies, provide written materials, oral briefings, and assist with solicitations. Work with colleagues for strategic involvement of Athletics Directors, the Executive staff , coaches and or other key personnel. Convene strategy sessions with the Executive Associate Athletics Director and the Senior Associate Athletics Director and the major and leadership giving staff. Develop proposals that align with departmental priorities. Provide background information and prepare key staff members and or volunteers for prospect and donor visits. Develop personalized stewardship plans for major gift donors in collaboration with the event and stewardship staff. Develop gift planning strategies for potential supporters through a partnership with the Office of Gift Planning in the University Development Office.

Licenses: Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver’s License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functionsOther related functions as assigned.

Required qualificationsBachelor’s degree required. A minimum of five years of athletic department experience with emphasis on fund-raising within an athletics department. Candidate should have a proven ability to close major gifts and mentor major gift staff. Excellent customer service skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and communications skills, verbal and written. Presentation skills. Highly developed sense of personal integrity. Professional demeanor. Good PC skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree. More than five years of athletic development experience, proven ability to close leadership gifts, and manage volunteers. Development related experience within The University of Texas System and knowledge of Board of Regents Gift acceptance policies is helpful.
