Overview of the Position
Student Success at Purdue (www.purdue.edu/studentsuccess) is looking for a hardworking and energetic professional to join
our team to provide leadership in designing and implementing a culture of evaluation and assessment that result in
continuous improvement of our programs. The salary range is $45,000 to $55,000 (based on education and experience) with
a generous benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities
This Assessment Specialist will:
Work collaboratively with each of the program coordinators to develop strategies to select appropriate measures for
student learning and program outcomes.
Collaborate with university partners in researching, analyzing and reporting on the areas of student retention,
persistence, and success.
Conduct research primarily based in quantitative analysis, but the person also needs to be familiar with qualitative
methods, statistical analysis, and curriculum development. In addition to research, position is expected to
recommend solutions and strategies to enhance student success and retention.
Play a key role in communicating the institution’s ongoing assessment efforts and resulting program
changes/improvements to accrediting agencies.
* This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
Preferred candidates will have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral science, education, education research, evaluation, statistics, or a related
field. (Master’s or doctoral degree in social or behavioral science, education, education research, evaluation,
statistics, or a related field preferred.)
2 years’ experience in the application of assessment and evaluation methodologies, and survey design/analysis.
2 years’ experience assisting people to develop and sustain programs of learning outcomes assessment, and
electronic and other systems that support assessment and evaluation.
Formal training in quantitative and qualitative research.
Capable leader with the ability to manage and participate in cross-functional teams.
Outstanding research design and analysis skills.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Awareness of current trends, literature, and directions in assessment.
Highly proficient in the utilization of databases, spreadsheets, word processing applications, and other analysis tools
(e.g. SPSS, SAS, and Excel).
